Building Design
- Feasibility Studies
These are carried out to determine the planning and financial viability of
construction proposals. Optimal designs and layouts are discussed with the
relevant planning authorities before commitment to expenditure. A number of
marginal brownfield sites have been found new uses and form a core area of
the practice's expertise.
- Refurbishment
Refurbishment of commercial buildings allows companies to adapt to change.
New uses for existing buildings, particularly offices, have extended the life
of structures by incorporating new raised floors, air-conditioning, comfort
cooling and category 2 lighting. Corporate buildings now require additional
safety, security and IT infrastructure as exemplified by the recent upgrading
of offices for the Environment Agency, Citigen (London), in conjunction with
ATI Architects and Overburys, and Constantine House (Ipswich) for TXU
Europe plc.
- Re-use of brownfield sites
New buildings planned and existing buildings converted to retain and re-use
redundant sites.
